An empirical research on the adequacy of task-induced involvement load hypothesis: A case for intentional vocabulary learning

چکیده
The present study aimed at examining the adequacy of task-induced involvement load hypothesis in intentional learning. An investigation was carried out to find whether proficiency level learners had a role effectiveness vocabulary tasks with different loads. One hundred and thirty-six university students were randomly assigned into four task groups, each which included upper lower intermediate learners. Reading comprehension discussion, reading gap filling, plus sentence-making translation loads compared against other terms immediate delayed retention new words. partially supported that highest resulted better results experiment also showed similar might not result amounts Keywords: Task-induced involvement, hypothesis, learning, word retention, task.

The Involvement Load Hypothesis and Vocabulary Learning: The Effect of Task Types and Involvement Index on L2 Vocabulary Acquisition
This study builds on Laufer and Hulstijn’s (2001) motivational-cognitive construct of task-induced involvement in learning vocabulary and addresses itself to its strong claim that the depth of processing is the overriding factor in learning words. The paper first re-examines the effect of processing load and then of task type on the initial learning and retention of words. To do so, 60 EFL lear...

متن کاملTask-Induced Involvement in L2 Vocabulary Learning: A Case for Listening Comprehension
The study aimed at investigating whether the retention of vocabulary acquired incidentally is dependent upon the amount of task-induced involvement. Immediate and delayed retention of twenty unfamiliar words was examined in three learning tasks( listening comprehension + group discussion, listening comprehension + dictionary checking + summary writing in L1, and listening comprehension + dictio...
متن کاملThe Interaction between Involvement Load Hypothesis Evaluation Criterion and Language Proficiency: A Case in Vocabulary Retention
A long-standing debate among the vocabulary researchers is the depth of processing to learn vocabulary. This paper is a quantitative research which considers a revision in the “involvement load hypothesis” proposed by Laufer and Hulstijn in 2001. It investigates the role of proficiency and evaluation in this hypothesis in order to better reveal its potential contribution to vocabulary learning....
